It might even make you introspect your relationships. Sometimes I felt I wanted to understand Shrimati a little more, but other than that the characters are well thought out and written.

The kinds with wh A typical Sudha Murthy book: This books changes my perception about her. What adhered me to the book was the Simplicity of the love story. She who willingly gives up her dreams is deprived of any other happiness by the one whom she sacrificed everything for.
The ambitious boy aspires to be the school topper, but it is Shrimati, who tops, while he ends up second. The innocence of falling in love to the childhood teasing and connecting to the fragrance of bakula flower seem out fashioned but works vey well with the setback of the story.

While on the other hand Shrimati dedicates her life to her husband and supports him in thick and thin. As usual this is sort simple story. A prolific writer in English and Kannada, she has written nine novels, four technical books, three travelogues, one collection of short stories, three collections of non-fiction pieces and two books for children. The style of writing was simple and neat, gentlly perfect portrayal of Indian speech. It makes you put down the novel and pick another one.

Mmurthy was one of the best books I have read, the characters are very realistic, problems which we could easily relate too and more so, the accurate happenings within an Indian family. There’s a lot to take from this book if you read it intently and shall give you a lot to mull over.
Slowly the two start drifting away. A good love story. Murthy and she has sacrificed her professional ambitions to support her bushand.
The result is the protagonist Shrimati, marrying Shrikant despite the problems that she would have to face, the chief ones being – hostility from his family is fzlls is not the daughter-in-law they would have liked, not only because she is not wealthy, but also because of a family feud going back many decades, and secondly, she has to give up her career aspirations.

This when she decides that she has to become a student once more to give a meaning to her life, to do something to makes her happy. This light book with a lovely tye will leave you pondering. Coming back to the story, Shrimati turns down a research scholarship offer from a foreign visiting professor, Mike Collins, just to get married to Shrikant. May 20, Tripti Saini rated it it was amazing.
Both are keen students, but the reader gets to know of the seriousness with which Shrimati learns about History.

His ignorant attitude towards his own wife had made Srimati take extreme steps. Srimati was offered to study abroad but she simply denied the offer because of her dedication to her husband. And yet, it was very special to him.
They are neighbours, share the same surname but their families do not get along with each other. Today, people have become too career centric, most people believe money is the solution to all problems.
I’m not very fond of the characters.
