The more I read Lispector the closer I dance around her ideas on reaching beyond words and losing oneself in the future-less, ds present. The family Clarice Lispector was a Brazilian writer. I like this more than The Hour of the Star because the self-wracked stakes are so much higher. It’s a weird set up, and almost feels like a self-aware power trip; but it’s one that’s gorgeously done, and I’m inclined to forgive just about everything else that I didn’t like about it.
